Why Your Ping Rises at Night, and What You Can Do
Your ping in PUBG Mobile rarely depends on how good the game server is. It depends on what your connection is doing right now: how far the traffic travels, how congested the network is at that hour, and how many packets fail to arrive. In Baku the pattern repeats in the evening, when mobile networks in the same neighbourhood carry the most traffic, and the same phone can feel fine at noon and unplayable after nine. Measure first, then test a server route and decide for yourself whether it helps.

What ping actually measures on a mobile connection
Ping is the round trip: how long one packet takes to reach the game server and come back. The number on your screen is an average, so two connections can show the same figure and behave differently. What matters alongside it is jitter, the variation between measurements, and packet loss, the share of packets that never arrive. In Azerbaijan the evening hours are the hardest, roughly from 20:00 to 23:00, when people at home stream video and mobile cells in the same district carry the most traffic. A test at 11:00 tells you very little about how a ranked match will feel at 21:00.
Measure your own line before you change anything
Set a baseline before you touch any setting. PUBG Mobile shows ping, jitter and packet loss in its network statistics option, and those three numbers are what you compare. Take readings at several times: morning, after work, and during your usual playing hours. Do it twice, once on Azercell or Bakcell mobile data and once on your home router, standing in the same place. Written down, the readings show whether the problem belongs to the operator's cell in your district, to your Wi-Fi, or to the route toward the game server. Packet loss above two or three per cent is the number to watch, because it ruins a fight faster than a high but steady ping.
Packet loss and jitter matter more than the headline number
A match does not need a low ping as much as it needs a steady one. When packets are lost, the game has to guess where a player was, and you see the effects as rubber-banding, shots that do not register, and doors that open late. Jitter makes the delay uneven, which is why hit registration feels different from one minute to the next. If you share Wi-Fi with a household that streams in the evening, no route change will fix your local network; the fix is a wired connection for the router, or mobile data. Encryption from a VPN cannot repair an overloaded cell either. What it does add is a protected path from your device to a server you chose, which matters more on shared Wi-Fi than on your own line.
Choosing a route instead of a loud server name
Server lists are long, and the biggest name is not automatically the best choice for a match in Europe or Turkey. The service offers servers in more than 40 countries, including Turkey, Georgia, Germany, the Netherlands and the UAE, and each one is a different path from your operator to the game server. Test them the same way you tested your line. Connect through one country, play a full match at your usual hour, and note the three numbers from the network statistics. Then repeat with another. Pick on measurement, not on distance, and keep the result you can reproduce on a weekday evening. If two routes give the same figures, use the closer one: less distance usually means fewer things that can go wrong.
Settings to hold a connection through a long session
Install the app on iOS, Android, Windows, macOS or Android TV. On an Android phone, set battery use to unrestricted so the system does not close the tunnel between matches, and check that background data is allowed. Turn on the kill switch, so traffic stops if the tunnel drops instead of leaving the device outside it, and use reconnect-on-start where the app offers it. Watch your data plan: encrypted traffic on mobile data still counts towards your monthly allowance. If a match feels worse after switching, keep the earlier measurement and go back, because a setting you can reverse is always worth testing.

Frequently asked questions
Will a VPN lower my ping in PUBG Mobile?
Not by itself. A VPN can change the path your traffic takes, and on a congested evening that sometimes reduces jitter and packet loss. If the bottleneck is the cell serving your district or a household streaming on the same router, it will not help. Test one route during a full match and compare the numbers.
Should I play on mobile data or home Wi-Fi in the evening?
Compare both at the hour you play. Mobile data depends on how busy the cell near you is, while home Wi-Fi depends on your router and on everyone else using it. Stand in the same place for both tests and write down ping, jitter and packet loss. Whichever gives steadier figures on a weekday evening is the one to keep.
Is a VPN useful when I play on shared Wi-Fi?
Yes, mainly for privacy rather than for ping. On an open network in a cafe or a hotel, encryption makes your traffic far harder to read for other people on the same access point, and it protects the details you type into banking apps. Keep the tunnel on before you open a paid service and disconnect when you are done.
