Keeping an Android VPN Connected on Samsung and Xiaomi

On most Android phones the install is not the hard part. The tunnel comes up, the screen locks, and somewhere in the background Android ends the session without saying anything. This page is about that problem in Azerbaijan: the Google Play install, the battery settings on Samsung and Xiaomi handsets that close a VPN overnight, and the routines that keep a connection steady through a day of mobile data and public Wi-Fi.

Install from Google Play and keep the key from your email

Take the build from Google Play on a current phone. Updates arrive on their own and the app stays matched to your Android version. Open the app, sign in and enter the key sent by email, then grant the VPN permission Android asks for. The free trial is three days, 3 GB, one device, no bank card. An APK is a fallback for handsets that cannot see the app in the store. If a shop sold you a grey-import phone without Play services, download a file only from the official source and switch the browser install permission off once it is done.

What ends the tunnel while you sleep

Most overnight disconnections have nothing to do with the server. Android freezes apps it thinks you have finished with, and a frozen app cannot hold an encrypted connection. The session ends quietly and you see it at breakfast. Two settings fix most cases: battery use set to unrestricted, and background data allowed. If your phone runs adaptive battery or deep sleep, add the VPN to the exceptions. Leave its notification in the status bar, since that icon is how you notice a change. Repeat all of it after a system update, because manufacturers often restore their defaults.

Samsung and One UI: taking the app off the sleeping lists

One UI limits background work strictly, and that is exactly why a session dies on the charger. Open Settings, then Battery and device care, then Battery, and look at Background usage limits. If the app sits under sleeping apps or deep sleeping apps, remove it from both lists and add it to never sleeping apps instead. On the app's own battery page choose Unrestricted rather than Optimised or Restricted. Then check Settings, Connections, Data usage for anything that blocks background data on mobile networks. With those boxes ticked, a Galaxy handset usually holds a connection from bedtime until the alarm.

Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO: autostart is the missing switch

MIUI and HyperOS are stricter, and the two settings that matter sit outside the VPN app. First, Autostart, on the app's permission page or under Settings, Apps, Manage apps. Without it nothing restarts the app after a reboot, so the tunnel is down before you wake up. Second, battery saver: choose No restrictions instead of Battery saver or Balanced. Locking the app in the recent apps view protects it from the memory cleaner. While you are there, switch off any per-app data saver for the VPN and confirm notifications are allowed, because HyperOS hides them on some builds.

A working day on Azerbaijani networks

A phone moves between mobile data, the home router and Wi-Fi in a cafe or a mall several times a day. Connect before opening a banking app or paying from your phone, because a shared network is a poor place to send card details. In the evening, when calls and video compete for bandwidth, choose the nearest server; the service covers more than 40 countries, including Turkey, Georgia, Germany, the Netherlands and the UAE. On the road, keeping the tunnel on means your own paid subscriptions behave the way they do at home. Try it first: three days, 3 GB, one device, no bank card, key by email. Plans start at 3 US dollars a month by device count - Mini one, Standard three, Pro seven, Ultra ten - and Stripe accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, UnionPay, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link. Refunds within five days; support on Telegram at @official_premium_vpn_bot or support@premium-vpn.app.

Frequently asked questions

Will the connection survive a locked screen overnight?

It does when the app is exempt from battery restrictions. On Samsung, remove it from the sleeping apps lists and set battery use to Unrestricted. On Xiaomi, turn on Autostart and choose No restrictions. Leave the notification icon visible in the status bar.

Is the Google Play version better than an APK?

For most people, yes. The Play Store build updates itself and stays matched to your Android version. An APK is a fallback for older handsets or grey-import devices that cannot see the app in the store, and it should come from the official source only.

Why does my Xiaomi phone drop the VPN after a restart?

Autostart is usually switched off. Without it, MIUI and HyperOS do not restart the app after a reboot, so the tunnel stays down until you open it by hand. Turn Autostart on, set battery use to No restrictions, and lock the app in the recent apps screen.

Can I test the app first, and how many phones does a plan cover?

The free trial runs three days with 3 GB on one device and needs no bank card; the key arrives by email. Paid plans are sold by device count from 3 US dollars a month: Mini for one, Standard for three, Pro for seven, Ultra for ten. Refunds are available within five days.
